Application - Novaedi

Hello! My main Character is Novaedi and this is my application to The Spine. I've read the application guide...so here I go!

Player Information
I've been playing World of Warcraft for about a year now. I am unsure exactly when I joined, but I believe it was around June 2010 (so around WotLK).

How confident would you say you are with the English language?
I'm pretty confident with English as I've grown up and lived in England all my life, although I may have the odd grammar/spelling mistake (English isn't my strongest subject).

What experience do you have with roleplaying in the past?
The only form of roleplay I've taken part in is in World of Warcraft. I started roleplaying pretty much as soon as I started playing and have been doing so ever since.
I've been the leader of a small Alliance roleplay guild as well as a roleplay officer for 2 fairly large guilds, hosting and taking part in many roleplay events.

What experience do you have within the World of Warcraft?
With my first character I simply tried questing with lots of roleplay, but since I've migrated to the horde I've gotten into a little bit of PvE (the odd instance) but mostly battlegrounds, my favourites being Tol Barad and Strand of the Ancients. I've been heavily roleplaying throughout my time on WoW and this has lead me to join a few Roleplay guilds or larger guilds that have roleplay sections. Examples are The Dawn Guard (Horde, Second in command) and Defenders of Faith (Alliance, Roleplay officer).
Unfortunately, I haven't taken part in many Arenas but I would very much like to if I were to find willing partners

If you were to join the guild, what would you bring to the strong OOC community the guild shares?
I often enjoy the odd laugh and joke here and there and I often find myself fitting in nicely within communities. I've made several friends over WoW and I hope to make more in The Spine

If you were to join the guild, how often would you be able to play?
I'm currently a University student so I tend to have quite a bit of spare time (which I happen to spend on WoW mostly). The only times I'm not able to pop online are times of heavy work loads, exams and when my RL social life calls. Weekends and evenings are my usual WoW times.

If you were to join the guild what would be your priority when online?
I would promptly show up to most (if not all) roleplay events happening within The Spine but I also like the spontaneous bit of roleplay here and there. I enjoy roleplaying on Novaedi (my main character) the most so I will be around very often.

Why do you wish to join the guild?
I keep spotting members of The Spine around Brill and other areas whilst Roleplaying and I've even roleplayed with a few of your members on a new Forsaken character of mine. The roleplay I've seen seems very enjoyable and I've also been recommended by Gremkarc (if that name means anything) to give The Spine a look. Also, the Forsaken are my favourite race by far, so it would be good for me to see if I can learn more about them.

Current Occupation: Freelancer/Mercenary (Although she's looking for something a bit more interesting and stable)
Age: 25 (When alive). In relation to death, she was one of the first Forsaken so...35?
Race: Undead Human
Level: 85
In-game Class & Spec': Frost Death Knight
IC Class: Same as above
Hair Colour: Light Blue
Eye Colour: Light Blue
Height: 5'8" (literally had a quick stab, hadn't really thought about height)

Of the three Forsaken factions the guild represents: The Royal Apothecary Society, The Deathguard and The Deathstalkers. Which do you feel your character would fit in with best and why?
She seems to have talents in all three (Alchemist and is used to collecting intelligence and information) but due to her past life, I'd have to say The Deathguard.

How does your character feel about the place of the Forsaken in the Horde? And how does he/she react to other races within the Horde?
Novaedi mostly believes that the horde is a waste of time for the Forsaken. She also used to struggle with fitting in with the Forsaken (due to her past) so she's able to get along with most races within the horde. Her main distastes are towards Blood Elves and she believes the Forsaken are superior to all races.

How does your character feel about the Wrathgate incident?
Novaedi moderately enjoyed watching Forsaken members kill forces of the Lich King, the Alliance and the Horde, but would never share this view with others. From a logical position though, Novaedi believed the act performed by Putress was foolish.

How does your character feel about the current state of the Horde?
She really does not like Garrosh as the new warchief as she thinks he's foolish and warmongering, but at the end of the day Novaedi cares little for the overall state of the Horde, just as long as there's still work and something to do. Novaedi has only been able to relate to a few individuals of various races but shows great respect for Sylvanas and any decision she makes in relation to the Horde.

Family:
Novaedi remembers very little about her family. She had no siblings, her mother died giving birth to her and her father died as a soldier for the Alliance.

Character History:
(Apologies for any errors, it's taken me a long time to build this up as Novaedi is a Forsaken and a Death Knight, making it a little confusing for me. I'm pretty sure I've got it all sorted now but I would appreciate any criticisms or comments.)

Novaedi was born in Kul'Tiras. Her birth was the cause of her mother's death and her father was often away as a soldier of the Alliance.
When Novaedi was 10, her father died on a transport ship that had ran into a violent storm.
Since her father's death, Novaedi wanted to join the army and live as her father lived.

It wasn't long for Novaedi's skills to be recognised, and with the status from her father she managed to become a successful soldier.
Eventually, she became under the command of Arthas, serving in many of his campaigns.

Novaedi gained some respect for Arthas, and this eventually led Novaedi to follow his downfall. Naturally, Novaedi chose to stay loyal to Arthas when it came to the massacre of Stratholme, and incidentally took part in the killing of Stratholme's villagers.
During the massacre, Novaedi ended up in a small house faced with a blacksmith protecting his family. Novaedi slaughtered the family without mercy, as she was taught, but became wounded by a rat in the struggle, which later turned out to be infected.

Quickly, Novaedi became consumed by the infection, knowing that she would soon become part of the scourge, yet despite this, she continued as if nothing had occured and carried on serving under Arthas.

By the time Arthus had arrived at Northrend and claimed Frostmourne, Noveadi had succumbed to the infection becoming part of the scourge. When Arthas became the Lich King, Novaedi was forced to serve him once again, but broke loose from his grasp when Sylvanas freed her along with many other members of the scourge and adopted the name "Novaedi".

Novaedi chose to leave the Forsaken, unable to accept their way of life. This allowed Kel’Thuzad, who reigned in Lordaeron at the time, to take advantage of Novaedi's admiration for Arthas and gave her the option of becoming a Death Knight in order to serve Arthas once again.
However, she later realised that hope for Arthas was lost, sparking the choice she made when Noveadi decided to leave the Lich King's command and fight against his will instead.

Novaedi struggled to rejoin the Forsaken and thus has rarely been able to socialise with other members of the Forsaken, finding friendship from individuals of various races and backgrounds.

Since Arthas' death, Novaedi found little to live for. This lead her to adopt a freelancer's life style, taking any jobs that can help her find purpose.
Recently, however, Novaedi lost many of those she considered "friends" and now hopes to regain a respectable position among the Forsaken in an attempt to find guidance and a reason for her to live through death.

Why does your character want to join the guild?
Novaedi has lost several close to her, and has now decided to find a new way of life. She's determined to serve Sylvanas in an attempt to become a true Forsaken and to find a purpose. Novaedi also believes her skills are good enough for The Spine.

What skill set could your character bring to the guild?
She has alot of combat experience so she would make a decent soldier, but she also has skills in Alchemy and intelligence gathering (from her many contacts).

How does your character respond to authority?
Novaedi has always lived to serve so she shouldn't have too much trouble with authority, although recently she's been a bit of a loner so it may take her some getting used to again.


Test of Ability
Relations between the Horde and the Forsaken are improving.
Some may believe that the Forsaken have become more a part of the Horde than it was before. However, I believe that the tensions that were once high between the Forsaken and the majority of the Horde still remain strong, especially with the appointment of a new Warchief.
When the Forsaken first became a part of the the Horde, Sylvanas Windrunner struggled to gain Thrall's trust as the alliance seemed to be more out of convenience for both sides. This lead Thrall to continuously question and test the loyalty of the Forsaken even though they were backed by the Taurens and despite Sylvanas' seemingly infinite patience towards the rest of the horde.

The relations between Forsaken and the Horde have also been weakened throughout its history by the physical distance between the two, with the Orcs, Trolls and Taurens based in Kalimdor and the Forsaken along with the Blood Elves being situated in the Eastern Kingdoms making it difficult for communications and a fully functioning alliance.

It has taken many years for the Forsaken to build up trust within the horde but it seems as though this fragile trust is at risk of being lost since Garrosh Hellscream has taken position as Warchief of the Horde. This is because Garrosh has not seen any reason to trust the Forsaken, especially after what took place at the Wrathgate, and fails to see Sylvanas' methods as reliable as well as natural.
Despite this, Sylvanas continues to try to improve relations between the Forsaken and the other members of the Horde by providing large numbers of Undead soldiers, mounts and war machines along with plagues used as a type of biological warfare. However, despite Garrosh Hellscream ordering that all production of Putress' plague be stopped, Sylvanas still continues to use it in battles such as those against the Gilneans, potentially damaging the relations between the Forsaken and the Horde.

However, it is possible that some relations between Sylvanas and the Warchief are improving as a Forsaken troop was present to help Garrosh and the Dragonmaw in their efforts in the Twilight Highlands. Be that as it may, many within both the Horde and Alliance have noticed changes in Sylvanas' personality recently which may also lead to poor relations between the Horde and the Forsaken.

Overall, it would seem as though relations between the Horde and the Forsaken are NOT improving, but are rather slowly deteriorating due to a lack of trust on both sides and, seemingly, a problem with authority between Sylvanas and Garrosh.


I hope that this application does well. If I'm honest, I really had to think about that last part and may have struggled a bit in some spots ^_^"

Your application is great, if not for a few minor inaccuracies which can be easily fixed, so don't worry.
Your character history says your character was born on Theramore, that's impossible if you want her to be an adult in the current timeline. Theramore was only created 10/12 years ago, so cannot technically be her birthplace. Instead, may I suggest Kul'Tiras as her origin kingdom? Considering this is also the original home of Jaina Proudmoore, it is likely the two would be similar; and Kul'Tiras is a sea-faring nation.

Apart from that, I think you're good to go. Perhaps you could reconsider her leaving the Forsaken willingly? While I cannot tell you what your characters history would be, perhaps a Scourge Lich or Death Knight used her remaining respect for Arthas as a trigger to regain control over her?

I'm happy to give you my stamp of approval, following you make the change to your birthplace. If you make other changes to make your character more feasible, even better.
