PLAYER INFORMATION
How long (approximately) have you been playing World of Warcraft?

I have played World of Warcraft since December, 2006 and
have been a fan of the game since then. I had a few
breaks now and then.

How confident would you say you are with the English language?

Although English is not my native language, I understand, write
and speak English near fluently. Maybe some really tough words slip past sometimes.

What experience do you have with roleplaying in the past?
- This does not have to have been within WoW.

Originally playing on Emerald Dream PVE server, I had none until I created
a character
on Sha`Tar December 2010. I had a slow start adjusting to the RP community
but learned quickly how to deal with certain situations by watching other
people RP in cities and towns. I started to RP randomly with people in
Darkshire and had lots of fun with them and learned some basic rules.
Eventually I joined the Alliance guild "Next Chapter" where I have my
warrior. The people in "Next Chapter" have been invaluable in teaching
me to refine my RP style. I have been a guild member of theirs for over 6 months now.

What experience do you have within the World of Warcraft?

Speaking of PVE, I have played a number of classes on my old server,
doing both instances and normal quests. I was also a founder
and later leader of a social leveling/raiding guild on Emerald Dream.
However, internal conflicts and lack of raid progress lead to the guilds
demise.
I later joined another raiding guild and played with them up to
6 months before Cataclysm was released. The number of raid instances
I have been to is limited. Karazhan all bosses except Netherspite,
Black Temple 2/9, 25 man Naxxramas full clear, 10 and 25man VoA 3/4,
25 man Ulduar 5/14. My role for Karazhan was as the main tank. All later
raids, I was dps. However, my previous raiding guilds members was not the
kind type of people and their behaviour soon got me despising raids.

I did play some PVP when I first started WoW and later in TBC, I was in
a 3v3 arena team but quit after a while because I felt arena was boring.
I then turned my attention to battlegrounds and geared up a warrior and
a hunter to PVP and played them for quite some time, but in the end
I got bored of PVP and Have not attacked a player of the opposite
faction for along time. Not even a flagged one.

RP experience I am low on as I have only been on Sha`tar for about 7 months.
The type of RP I have been involved in is random to quest and exploration.
No big events or anything server wide.

If you were to join the guild, what would you bring to the strong OOC community the guild shares?

If I were to join the guild, I hope I could contribute with some
Lore and history, as I have spent quite some time on wowwiki and wowpedia
reading up on different things. I also have a habit of doing low level
instances often to collect items for proffesion, cloth, armor and
weapons and I would be happy to bring along lower levels giving them boosts
for useful items and experience. Also, I tend to create stories in my head
and some of these have manifested into small RP stories which I have
acted out. I`m also accepting of everyone I meet and talk to.

If you were to join the guild, how often would you be able to play?

I usually spend most of my gametime online between 16:00 and 00:00,
usually longer in weekends (I`m no earlybird). From August my
gametime may be a bit shorter as I`m looking for a new job.

If you were to join the guild what would be your priority when online?

Have fun and get to know new people. The reason I quit playing for 6 months was because
I was bored of the game. I never participated in raids, I was bored of PVP
and just running around doing nothing was just that. I made a character on
Sha`tar to try RP and it blew my mind. I never even thought it could be
so much fun. And being able to participate in storylines created by
someone else is a blast.

Why do you wish to join the guild?

In my oppinion, one of the most interesting races to play, is the Forsaken.
Mostly because of their diversity and how they cope with being undead and
also their struggle to survive as a people. The Spine seem to have taken
these aspects of the Forsakens plight well into consideration. I would
like to play with others who feel the same and your guild seem
to be the perfect one for me.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Hadven Calder
Gender: Male

Title (if applicable): None.
Current Occupation: None (He`s fresh from the grave and have not decided what to do)

Age:85 years old at time of death. He was recently reanimated.
Race:
-Undead Human

Level: 27

In-game Class & Spec': Frost mage.
IC Class: Mage

Hair Colour: Grey
Eye Colour: Steel grey in life, pale yellow/white in undeath.
Height: 5"6

Of the three Forsaken factions the guild represents: The Royal Apothecary Society, The Deathguard and The Deathstalkers. Which do you feel your character would fit in with best and why?

Hadven was a collector of magical artifacts and books in life and an avid
student of different types of magic and history, so he might be of assistance to The
Royal Apothecary Society in the Research and Development group.
He simply is not strong enough for a Deathguard or stealthy enough for a Deathstalker.

How does your character feel about the place of the Forsaken in the Horde? And how does he/she react to other races within the Horde?

Hadven believes that the Forsaken is a necessity for the Horde. The Forsaken
is known for having powerful mages and the best Rogues in the world in
the service of the Horde. In return, the Forsaken have physical stronger beings
backing them up.
He respects the Blood elfs for their strong affinity for magic, the Orcs for their
courage and the fact that they almost conquered Azeroth.
He has no opinion of the other races as he have not met a
Tauren, Goblin or Troll yet.

How does your character feel about the Wrathgate incident?

Hadven was not yet reanimated at the time, but he was told stories about it.
He was astonished at how effective it was and how it was an
alchemical masterpiece, but became fearful thinking about if the Alliance
managed to reproduce the plague and use it against the Forsaken.
However, he felt nothing but anger against Putress, attacking
without Sylvanas permission and endangering the Forsakens position of power.

How does your character feel about the current state of the Horde?

Hadven does not like Garrosh, which stems from his own
motto: "Knowledge is power". To Hadven, Garrosh is the type who kills
everyone, then try to ask questions. He feels there are those within the
Horde who could be warchief far better. He does not see the point in
waging war in Gilneas when the kingdom could be left alone to be
devoured from the inside.

Family:

Father: Alexander Calder.
Mother: Lisa Calder.

Unknown child/children.

Character History:

Hadven Calder was born and raised in Lordaeron. His father was a farmer
and his mother was a local healer. As a child Hadven was curious about
everything and how things was as they was. His mother saw the makings
of a mage in her young son and managed to convince her husband that Hadven
could be mage material. And at the age of 14, Hadven was sent to Dalaran to
study magic. He finally found a place to satisfy his thirst for knowledge.
He spent most of his time in the great library, reading books about the world,
history, other races and just about everything else. He also started reading books
about advanced magic and soon he became a good spellcaster. This earned him
the jealousy of his fellow students and they started bullying him. This continued
over many years and his anger built up, but a fellow student, a young girl
named Hanna befriended him and they soon fell in love.

At the age of 30, Hadven concluded his studies at Dalaran and moved with Hanna
to Andorhal. After 2 years Hadven wanted to travel into the world and see it.
Hanna however, wanted him to stay so they could settle down and start a family.
Hadven did not feel ready for a family yet and decided he wanted to go anyway.
An argument erupted between the two and Hadven left in anger. He would never
go back to Andorhal.

Hadven spent several years traveling the Western Kingdoms, visiting libraries
and places of learning. After years of travels, he realized that the
greatest of knowledge was with elder mages who had seen much more. He quickly
found an old mage named Valus who was happy to have an apprentice and follower.
Hadven spent 5 years with the old mage, learning from him, both of magic and
knowledge not usually found in libraries. However, Hadven became greedy and
desired the old mages magic relics and spellbooks for himself. One night while the
old mage was asleep, he killed him with a pyroblast to the head and left with
all his possesions. Among the items Hadven took, was a beautiful ornate spellbook
and a sword the old mage used as a spell focusing tool. This marked a turning point
for Hadven. He started ambushing traveling mages and stealing their spellbooks
and magical relics. In time, he would amass a large collection of books and
relics, which he would hide in caves and abandoned houses in the wild.

Many years later, Hadven started to feel the weight of his age on his shoulders.
He would not let his collection of knowledge go to waste and started looking for
an apprentice. His first apprentice was a young man that was kicked out of
Lordaeron for selling false potions that he claimed could cure many ailments. He
was prefect for Hadven, he was looking for one that would not be bound by morals.
However, the young man proved to be useless and could not comprehend even the
easiest of spells. In his disappointment and anger, Hadven encased his
apprentice head in a block of ice and then proceeded to smash his apprentice
head into pieces.
Hadven searched on for an apprentice but each one he would try to train, failed
him in one way or another.

Many years later, Hadven was searching for a way to stop his aging. He
was so corrupted by his insatiable thirst for knowledge that he wanted
to surpass death but nothing worked. He then heard of the undead plague to the north.
Seeing an opportunity to live after his death, Hadven travelled to Lordaeron
with the intent of capturing an undead creature and find out what magic had
caused it to rise from its grave. However, he did not get any further than Brill
before his age caught up with him and he collapsed. He was taken in and cared
for by a small family who felt bad for the old man. Every day he would praise
them for their kindness but curse his own frail body. After 2 weeks chained to
a bed, Hadven the corrupt died cursing himself and his frail body. He was
buried at the graveyard in Brill.

Time passed like it always do and then one day Hadven heard a voice in the
darkness, calling out to him. Then he saw a light that was shaped like a
woman with wings. As he forced himself awake, he saw the woman floating in front
of him and several undead walking around. Frightened, Hadven ran away not
knowing what was happening. Luckily for him, a few Forsaken had seen him and
caught up with him, calming him down and telling what had happened and what he was now.
Strangely enough, Hadven accepted his fate quickly. This was what he
wanted before he died of old age. A creature as powerful as a Val`kyr who
could reanimate the dead took orders from someone else? This Dark Lady truly was
a powerful being.

Hadven did not bother much about how he looked now. He was so thin before he died
that now he looked like a skeleton with a dry human skin stretched over it, much
like a mummy. All he could think of, day after day, was how he could best serve
the Dark lady. With that in mind, he left Deathknell and headed into the world.

Why does your character want to join the guild.

Hadven sees the Dark Lady as his ultimate master and wishes to
serve her at the best of his abilities. He heard that there was
a group within the Forsaken that worked very hard for Her and
thought that by serving them, he would serve Her.

What skill set could your character bring to the guild?

Years of hunting for magical relics and studying magic gave
Hadven a natural gift for finding and sensing magical items in different places.
He is also a skilled mage, historian and scholar.

How does your character respond to authority?

Hadven both love and fears the Dark Lady. He love her for bringing
him back from the grave, and fear that should he fail her, he would
be sent back to a cold shallow grave. Thus he would do almost
anything for her. As long as orders come from Sylvanas, directly
or indirectly, he would carry them out. Should they come from
some random stranger in the street, he would hesitate.

TEST OF ABILITY

i) The Forsaken are evil. There are no good Forsaken.

I do not believe all Forsaken are evil. Think about it. Being reanimated from the grave
as a rotting, living corpse would probably shock everybody to begin with but then they
would most likely want to return home to their family and loved ones. However, the family
would most likely be terrfied of seeing a long dead husband, wife, brother, sister,
uncle etc standing in the doorway. Maybe believing the undead family member hunger for
living flesh, they would be terrified and try to kill him or her. Or maybe believing they
would set them free? For a free minded Forsaken, seeing such an action from family and
loved ones would cause an emotional scar and maybe cause hate.
Now, good Forsaken. Leonid Barthalomew would be considered good as he harbor no
hatred for the living. But have any of his family members seen him recently?
How would any of his living family react seeing him as an undead? Interesting thought.
A theory about the brains of the Forsaken decomposing have been mentioned sometime.
Maybe the emotional centre of the brain have undergone some chemical transformation?
It`s possible. The decomposing of the brain can be seen as a brain damage of some sort,
which could have affected the level of agression in the mind.
However, I think that the undead state of mind is rather the basic emotions, the
increased agression would explain self defence. Attack before one is attacked.
But this is not always true. The best theory I have heard is this:
The inherent kindness of the individual. A righteous hand of justice = a good Forsaken.
Small evil, selfish deeds over a lifetime = a evil Forsaken.

But this is just a theory.

Note: I had some problems with the image. I don`t know what happened but I could not post it.
But I can say with my hand on my heart that I read it.
Instead I can add some trivia of how long it took me to write this application.
-Took me nearly 12 hours to write this. Spell checked.
-About 2 liters of coffee consumed.
-2 feeding of cats.
-Half a box of chewing tobacco.
-2 meals consumed, including dinner.
-3 thinking pauses.

You have my yes. Pleasant to read.
Will wait for some other officer to read it through, as usually, too, but I am pretty sure they'll say yes too.
When this happens, feel free to whisper Manners, Isaelle (that's me), Geriand, Viatrix or Anthraxius for IC interview and invite.
And don't forget to register here, instead of being a guest. Smile

P.S. Reminds me, we have a fresh group called Philo, for mages and such, perhaps your character will be interested in that.

Thanks for the approval Very Happy
However, I must make a small change to my characters skills, specifically the one about sensing and finding magical items. I wrote that part late at night and went a bit too far.
Yes, Philo group seem to be perfect for my character.
I can`t get online until next week as I`m away at the moment. Maybe earliest Wednesday next week.

It's alright. Just whisper one of the people I mentioned in my first reply and we will get you in, seeing that Anth gave you yes too.
