Redwalt Application

How long have you been playing World of Warcraft?
At the launch of the Open Beta 2004 I was one of the wiry nerds clinging to my computer as if possessed. Can’t recall the exact date. Other than that, at the launch of vanilla WoW, November 23 2004. I have of course had several breaks, considering guilds splitting up, boredom and real life occurrences. Luckily the gameplay at the moment is probably at its best so far!

How confident would you say that you are with the English language?
Confident enough. My first language is Swedish, but I have a very easy grasp on the English language. Words come easily to me, probably because of a lot of reading (I prefer books that have not been translated) and writing. If someone uses words I don’t understand, I can usually manage to understand the word by looking at the whole sentence. I’m no English teacher by all means, and I am sure there are a plenty full of words out there that I don’t understand
Of course, I can do your everyday typos also. I may also stumble in mid conversation, not finding the right word, but I believed that to be quite common if it’s not your first language. Heck, I even do it when talking Swedish.

What experience do you have with roleplaying in the past?

My RP experience started about the launch of the RPPvP servers in 2006, as I didn’t know at that time what roleplay was. My brother told me all about it, and I joined the Defias Brotherhood. From there I got introduced into a whole new world, and since then I have been stumbling across Pen and Paper roleplay, Forum Roleplay . Though my personal favorite is still WoW RP.
Starting out I was probably just another kid trying to be the “most badass evil character in town”, but it have changed over time. My final days were with an old excellent guild that was very much considered elitist. I suppose I am elitist too to some extent, as I often roll my eyes whenever for instance a Death Knight goes Darth Vader and choke-grips me, throws me into a wall and declares that I am his arch nemesis. I also flee whenever people start to roleplay drama that makes no sense. “Who are you too me? Why are you doing this? I don’t know you anymore!” when the character haven’t done nothing at all and they were pretty much drinking buddies last night. Relationship RP usually comes hand in hand with this kind of roleplay, and oh do I despise it. I don’t mean to say that people are not allowed to have their characters fall in love, but if it doesn’t make any impact on the developing story, I just find it as living out drama that you’d just want as much in real life. I also avoid Silvermoon like the plague. If you’d ever be interested in some Horror stories, let me know!
Now I might come across as elitist for the sake of being elitist, but it is not the case. I just feel that play your character out of a logic perspective. You don’t need all your characters to be überpowerfull, nor give them long lost curses that make them into terrible beings when angered. They don’t need to have their family killed and you have an unquenchable thirst to destroy the one responsible, and just because of it, your character is acting like a complete turd all the time. Play with the lore you were given, there is lots of it already to make great storyline. I am by all means not against new roleplayers at all and I am certainly not arguing with any ones imagination.

What experience do you have within the World of Warcraft?
I am a lousy PvEer, my PvP is mediocre but I love PvP, even more so in an RP environment. Though I haven’t tried it out yet in Cataclysm. Suffice to say, I think you can read above post on my views and experience on RP.

If you were to join the guild, what would you bring to the strong OOC community the guild shares?
I can’t really say. I enjoy a good quip of humor OOCly, though “trollface/forum” humor does not really float my boat that much. I am relaxed, doesn’t say anything out of the ordinary and likes to keep it in the semi-background, listen, and comment. It’s all about the mood also. If I am all focused on questing one afternoon, I might just not be arsed with your everyday chit-chat, though I keep track of what is being said, and should one need my attention, I am sure to give it (granted I am not AFK).

If you were to join the guild, how often would you be able to play?
This is a delicate question that requires a delicate answer. It’s hard to say. A combination of mood and urge would probably spur me to play, and even though I know it’s a give and take relationship between a guild and the player, it’s all about how much I get out from the guild. I am currently 19, so I am about to graduate, and after that I will start working. It’s all about how much free time I am given. Of course will I do my best to attend as many events as possible, and I am always up for some random RP. If nothing is up, I am usually online on Starcraft 2 or Modern Warfare and should probably be reachable, should you wish my skype or some other way of communication. I hope you understand that I won’t be able to play 24/7 and there will be weeks were I am almost unheard of as much as times where I just don’t seem to log off. If I find a place in this guild, I will however be sure to do my best to serve the guilds interests.

If you were to join the guild what would be your priority when online?
All about the mood, but most of the time I am up for dropping most things going on for some roleplay and helping out guildmates.

Why do you wish to join the guild?

The Forsaken are my favorite faction in Azeroth and I doubt I should have to go through explaining them, least of all to you. I like them even more so now that they seem to be more of a force to be reckoned with in Cataclysm. I want to develop my Forsaken character and play with other Forsaken. The Spine also seems like a militaristic (not as a regiment or brigade, I know) and disciplined guild and that really attracts me. I simply feel that venting my Forsaken fantasies (that sounded far worse than intended) is best done with other Forsaken. (Count the times I said forsaken and win yourself a scooter!)

CHARACTER INFORMATION

For this section we assume you already have a character up and running, ready to join The Spine at a moments notice. Applicants must be Level20+ (70+ For Death Knights) and show genuine commitment to their character. We'd also like to as that no one tries to pull a lorelol and be the son of Illidan and Arthas. While yes, it is both cool and manly to have the most loved Warcraft characters ever as your fathers. It isn't biologically possible nor imaginable. Though, if you would like to try and describe this image, brownie points for you!

Name: Redwalt Noah Ederman (Tombstone name)

Gender: Male

Title: Dreadguard

Current Occupation: Dreadguard, fighting along the Forsaken front in the retaking of Lordaeron. Nothing spectacular, just a rank and file soldier, though he is starting to prove quite the soldier, and as a inspiration to his fellows he is being considered getting a promotion. As for a tactical commander, his chances are nil. His solemn interest in the Spine is also because one of his superiors suggested that he might be of use to them. Of course this sparked his interest and faster than can say “shove a gnome down a meat wagon” he started looking for them.

Age: 34 at death. As a Forsaken I think he should be about 4 years old. I’m having a hard time grasping the time line between the expansions. According to the timeline this means he should have risen about the time of the launch of Vanilla WoW.

Race: Undead Human
Level: 26 and rising at a frightening rate!
In-game Class & Spec': Warrior – Arms
IC Class: Soldier/Warrior
Hair Color: Dark grey
Eye color: Greyish fade, common when people die. Though, they glow so it’s rather hard to make out anyway.

Of the three Forsaken factions the guild represents: The Royal Apothecary Society, The Deathguard and The Deathstalkers. Which do you feel your character would fit in with best and why?
The Deathguardd. As a rank and file soldier, and in truth he is pretty much already a part of them, the Deathguard fits him like a glove. He is a soldier and does the harsh dirty work of the battlefield. Be it building stockades, setting up siege weapons or just fighting he is content.

How does your character feel about the place of the Forsaken in the Horde? And how does he/she react to other races within the Horde?

Redwalts personality is highly inspired by Fascist/National Socialistic Dogma along with lord Garithos from Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. I am by all means not any of these in Real Life (well maybe Lord Garithos, I dont like elves that much Wink ), and lets all remember that we are all just playing a game. He is over zealous to the queen and believes fully that any not Forsaken are a lesser race meant to serve or suffer extinction. He is simple minded, does not understand valid arguments for equality and prefers to think that the Forsaken should only be an elected group of true loyalists ruling the “lesser races”. He does not understand why they are working with the Horde, but if the Queen wills it, he is not to judge her decision. She probably have a genius, grander scheme that in the end benefits the strongest. He takes a fierce pride in talking Forsaken (we are assuming they renamed Gutterspeak?) and prefers not to talk to any non-Forsaken, can he help it. He is of course not picking fights, nor acting rude; he just won’t by them a beer and watch the game.

How does your character feel about the Wrathgate incident?
“The weak must suffer the rule of the strong” simply put. The Blight is clearly Forsaken genius, though saying that to a two meter tall muscular greenskin would end in severe pain. Putress on the other hand was scheming against the queen and as such suffered a traitor’s death. A man of great potential that got corrupted by his own gifts, sadly.
Family:
- Please only explore immediate family.
Redwalt does not know the past more than that he was a Lordaeron Footman, having been buried in the costume. His name is taken from the tombstone. There is no past, and he have been shaped only by the laws of the Forsaken. He doesn’t remember anything.
In all honesty, I kind of did this as I didn’t want to develop a deep sorrowful story. I know that he was once a human soldier of Lordaeron, had a wife, a family and lived in the capital city. I don’t let him know this as I have no plans on developing it.

Character History:
Redwalt Ederman was the son of Noah Ederman, a common soldier of the Lordaeron legions. His life was nothing out of the ordinary. He picked up his fathers profession, met a lovely wife, had four children and perilous passtime of fighting the horde. His final time alive was under the command of Lord Garithos. He was bested by the forces of Sylvanas Windrunner. He was hastily buried in his full regalia.
At the point of waking up in Dethknell Redwalt remembered nothing, knew nothing, except for how to work his body and speak and read Common fluently. He read the name of the tombstone, assumed it as his name. Counting was neither a problem, and as if he had been doing math all his life he figured out his supposed age of death would be 34.
While still in bewildered confusion trying to figure the situation out he stumbled upon several other newly risen. All as lost as him. They in turn were guided by a man called Undertaker Mordo, whom shoved them in the right direction.
Finding his feet fast in just following orders and adapting to the situation, Redwalt found it natural to him to do menial tasks and fighting. It didn’t take long for his superiors to recruit him to the Deathguard, something he embraced full heartedly. Serving a certain force meant only for frontline duties he was force-fed several rules that would ensure his commitment to the Forsaken. (It should be noted that it was only Redwalt and his comrades commander that forced these laws upon them, so I am not saying this is in anyway standard in the Forsaken organisation.)
• Personal ambition was nothing, there was only one luxury to be had and that was that of being Forsaken.
• Love meant attachment. Don’t get attached to anything or you will suddenly follow false prophets. If you must love you shall only love the Banshee Queen for everything she have done.
• Never question authority. Traitors die a traitors death.
• Don’t ask for rest for you do not need it. Don’t think of food, for you don’t have a desire to eat. Should you eat there is only the flesh of the dead – consuming them strengthens you. You don’t need to drink.
• The Light burns your skin, and should be dealt with as the threat it is.
They were taught how to kill, and kill with efficiency, how to act, pick out the right target in the crowd and how to influence your comrades in doubt.
Ever since Redwalt have served the Forsaken as a frontline warrior, jumping between organizations where his use seems the most fitting. Because of this, he have never spent much time in Undercity. As of the current situation he have been serving the Dreadguard in taking Gilneas.

Why does your character want to join the guild?
His superiors told him to look for The Spine as they might have use of his service. The word of the commander is law and should be embraced full heartedly. To Redwalt, serving the Spine is another frontier in its own right, and hopefully another place where he can be honored by the stout presence of other renowned Forsaken.

What skill set could your character bring to the guild?
Complete obedience and any menial task given to him. He is a fighter, and a proud one at that. Insults are not to be slung at other Forsaken, least they be traitors, and they should be served to those lesser that deserve it. His battlefield competence is grand and it’s probably his unquestionable duty that makes him a valuable asset along with his fast adaption to any field role. Granted the Spine might not be a frontier organization, but in the end, Redwalt’s foremost wish is to serve.

With the Lich King dead, the Forsaken lack a purpose.
This could be discussed to death, but as it seems Sylvanas has greater plans for her faction, and evidently seemed to have even before the Lich Kings downfall. As of now Sylvanas seems to be destined to retake Lordaeron for its original people, and its by this that she still spurs her minions on. She offers them another cause. If the old Forsaken was held together by a shared hate for Arthas, one could argue that now they are being held together by a mutual desire for belonging. A place where they are not to be prosecuted, hated and despised as monsters. It seems the single purpose of the Forsaken right now is to take over Lordaeron, and make it their own kingdom once again. Then there is the question if its enough should they ever succeed. Are they going to want more afterwards?
As a purpose in its whole, the Forsaken at the moment have one purpose, and it’s the same purpose as most of the other races, they want to be a part of the world. To exist. Of course existing is usually easier when you have an established society.

And some about me:
I am a 19 year old swedish guy that enjoys playing music, painting miniatures, going to party's, hanging out with friends, writing stories and playing wow.

This is excellent. I only spotted one or two mistakes, in the whole of the application. You seem to be perfectly aligned with the Lore, and your English is above our standard.
So, contact me, Cage or Manners in game to proceed to the interview stage!

Hope to see you in the guild, soon. Smile
